Common questions

The practical details, answered plainly.

If your question is not covered here, it is a reasonable thing to raise in an initial consultation.

  • How do online telehealth sessions actually work?

Telehealth sessions are conducted virtually using a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform powered by Headway Telehealth. Before your scheduled session time, you will receive a unique, private video link by email or text.

You simply click that link from your desktop computer, tablet, or smartphone to join the private video window. No specialized software downloads are required.

  • What do I need to prepare for an online session?

You will need a reliable internet connection, a functioning camera-enabled device, and a fully private, quiet room where you cannot be overheard or interrupted.

For legal, ethical, and licensing reasons, you must be physically located within North Carolina or Oregon at the time of the live session.

  • What is your session format?

Every session follows a predictable, collaborative framework. We start with a brief check-in to track progress, move into an exploration of current issues or targeted professional challenges, integrate custom skill building or focused psychoeducation, and conclude with a practical clinical review of the session.

  • What is your cancellation and missed-appointment policy?

To avoid automated fees, please provide at least 24 hours of advance notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours of notice incur a late cancellation fee of $200, and a missed session with no prior notice incurs an automated no-show fee of $200.

These administrative fees are not covered by insurance and are the responsibility of the client. Discretionary waivers are granted only for documented sudden medical emergencies or severe localized weather events.

  • Which states can you see clients in?

North Carolina, where I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, and Oregon, where I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Telehealth regulations follow the client’s physical location during the session rather than the therapist’s, so your location is confirmed at the start of every appointment. International inquiries are reviewed case by case and may require a referral to a provider authorized in your home country.

  • Do you accept insurance?

Yes, for select commercial carriers. Billing and network credentialing are administered exclusively through Headway, and the current in-network list is published on the rates and insurance page.

Your actual cost depends on your deductible, co-pay, co-insurance, pre-authorization rules, and whether your specific plan tier is paneled in-network. An eligibility check in the Headway portal is a screening estimate, not a guarantee of payment.

  • Where do I sign consent forms and practice policies?

All primary practice disclosures — the Notice of Privacy Practices, HIPAA telehealth consent, Good Faith Estimate, practice policies, consent forms, and accessibility statement — are managed and signed through the Headway provider onboarding portal during your initial registration.

This site intentionally hosts no contact forms or input fields, so no personal or clinical information is ever submitted here.

  • Can this practice help during a crisis?

No. This is an outpatient teletherapy and assessment service, and it is not equipped to provide 24/7 crisis intervention or immediate safety containment.

If you are in immediate danger or having active thoughts of harming yourself or others, call or text 988, dial 911, or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait for a response from this practice.
